Aluminium window types
The opening style affects ventilation, cleaning, security and how well the window seals. Many homes use a mix, for example sliding windows in living areas and casement or tilt-and-turn in bedrooms.
Casement windows
Side-hung sashes close onto compression gaskets, so they generally seal tighter against air, dust and noise than sliders. Multi-point locks add security.
Best for: bedrooms, noisy roads, villas
Tilt-and-turn windows
One handle either tilts the sash inward for secure ventilation or swings it fully open for cleaning. Good for upper floors where outside cleaning is difficult.
Best for: upper floors, children's rooms
Slimline windows
Narrow sightlines give more glass and a cleaner, modern look. Slimline systems cost more and need careful specification for large panels.
Best for: modern villas, view-facing walls
Top-hung (awning) windows
Hinged at the top and opening outward, so they can stay slightly open for ventilation. Common in bathrooms, kitchens and above fixed glass.
Best for: bathrooms, kitchens, high-level vents
Fixed windows
Non-opening frames for maximum light and the best seal. Often combined with opening sashes alongside, or used for stairwells and double-height spaces.

Reducing heat and noise
In Dubai the main reasons to upgrade windows are heat gain, glare, AC running costs, dust and traffic noise. These are the specification choices that tackle them.
Double glazing & solar-control glass
A sealed double-glazed unit insulates far better than a single pane. Adding low-E or solar-control (tinted or reflective) glass reduces the sun's heat entering the room, which matters most on west- and south-facing walls.
Thermal-break frames
Aluminium conducts heat. Thermal-break profiles separate the inner and outer parts of the frame with an insulating strip, so the inside face stays cooler and the window's overall thermal performance improves.
Acoustic performance
Noise reduction comes from good seals and the glass build-up. Casement or tilt-and-turn windows with double glazing, ideally with laminated glass and unequal pane thicknesses, perform better than single-glazed sliders.
New buildings: glazing in new developments may have to meet thermal-performance targets under Dubai's green building regulations (Al Sa'fat). Your consultant normally specifies these values, and we price to the specified glass and frame performance.
What affects aluminium window prices?
- Size, quantity and opening type. Opening sashes cost more than fixed glass, and tilt-and-turn costs more than sliding.
- Frame system. Standard, slimline or thermal-break.
- Glass. Single vs double glazing, plus low-E, tinted, laminated or acoustic options.
- Finish. Standard white, black or grey powder coat vs special RAL colours, anodised or wood-effect finishes.
- Installation conditions. Removing old windows, floor level and access, scaffolding, and making good.

Maintenance and repairs
Aluminium windows need little upkeep. In Dubai's dusty conditions, a little regular care keeps them sealing and sliding properly:
- Vacuum tracks and keep drainage slots clear so water can escape
- Clean frames with mild soapy water, not abrasive cleaners
- Check seals and brushes; replace them if light or dust gets through
- Lubricate locks and hinges occasionally

Are double-glazed aluminium windows worth it in Dubai?
For rooms with strong sun or road noise, usually yes. Double glazing, especially with solar-control or low-E glass, reduces heat gain and noise compared with single glazing. On shaded or internal windows, single toughened glass may be enough.
Which window style seals best against dust and noise?
Casement and tilt-and-turn windows close onto compression gaskets and generally seal tighter than sliding windows. Good sliding systems with quality brush seals and interlocks still perform well. The choice often comes down to space and how you want the window to open.
What is a thermal-break aluminium window?
The frame is split into an inner and outer section joined by an insulating (usually polyamide) strip. This reduces heat moving through the metal, improving comfort and the window's overall thermal performance.
How much do aluminium windows cost in Dubai?
Prices depend on size, opening type, frame system, glass and finish, and on site conditions. We provide an itemised quotation from photos and approximate sizes, then confirm measurements on site.
Can you replace windows in an occupied apartment or villa?
Yes. Replacement is usually done opening by opening, so rooms aren't left exposed for long. Building management approval may be needed for external changes, so check with your building first.
